Our Health MUST be a Priority

After taking a break from writing, mainly due to the busyness of life, but also to take time to reflect on the future of this blog, I've recently felt convicted to share my thoughts on the chronic illness epidemic we're experiencing here in America in relation to my own health journey and in light of RFK Jr's confirmation hearings this past week. This is NOT a political post; it is simply a call to action and how I believe God is using my testimony as our country becomes sicker. "Who knows, perhaps you were created for such a time as this," (Esther 4:14).

Health is NONPARTISAN; it is imperative that we prioritize the health of ourselves, our families, our children, and our nation. America leads the world in chronic illness. The prevalence of autism has risen from 1 in thousands in the 1960s to 1 in 36 today, and diabetes is 10 times more prevalent than it was in the 60s. Approximately 4 of every 10 American adults and 1 in 5 children are obese. Cancer is rising 1-2% every year among young people. Why is that? As someone who has experienced "chronic" illness firsthand, I can say without a doubt that Big Pharma, Big Food, and $$$ are what's controlling the narrative and the main reason why Americans are so sick. And the worst part is they know it and they DON'T CARE. It's all about profit, and how can the pharmaceutical companies make money when people are healthy? I've been told by 2 different gastroenterologists years apart that my conditions are chronic and I'd need to be on medication long term. I refused accept that, and I fought a long and hard battle to regain my health (spoiler alert: I'm healthier than I've been in YEARS and not on ANY medication, by the grace of God). I don't in any way fault the doctors for this; they only know what they know. Big Pharma controls conventional medicine, where there's a medication for almost every ailment. However, most medications are simply a band-aid, treating a symptom and not the root cause. And taken long-term, most medications have side effects that aren't included on a pamphlet or in a commercial; they can cause deficiencies in key vitamins and minerals, and that creates another layer of problems.

On top of the issues with the pharmaceutical companies, the quality, or lack thereof, of the American diet plays a key role as to why we're so sick. Our food is not held to the same standards as other developed countries, in regards to permitted vs banned pesticides, chemicals, and ingredients. For example, Kelloggs makes cereal for Canada and numerous European countries with fruit and vegetable juice for coloring because synthetic food dyes are banned in those countries. YET, this American company makes those SAME cereals for Americans that contain those banned food dyes. Artificial dyes are known to cause behavior issues in children including hyperactivity, inattentiveness, and aggression, and can also impact mood and cause cancer. As a mom of a child whose behavior is greatly impacted by refined sugar and artificial dye, this is a huge problem to me personally. They are ALREADY making cereal with no dyes, so why can't they give us, their HOME COUNTRY, the same cereal? And that's just one example of many.

The American diet in general is overly processed, full of chemicals, and the opposite of healthy. I think a big contributor to this is that our busy lifestyles favor convenience over nutrition. When we're not properly nourishing our bodies like God intends for us to do, we become deficient in key nutrients that we need to effectively function. Add stress from our busy, over-scheduled lives and that is a recipe for disaster. This is what happened to me - stress, poor diet, and unnecessary medications led to poor gut health, and poor gut health leads to a whole new set of issues, ranging from physical to mental. I have experienced the INCREDIBLE difference in how my body and mind feel when I take the extra time and effort to prioritize whole foods over convenience, and I am convinced our diet plays a much bigger role in both our physical and mental health than so many of us realize. I praise the Lord everyday that He has given me the wisdom to restore my health. He did NOT just heal me; it wasn't until I changed my pleading prayers from "God, please heal me like the woman who touched Jesus' cloak," to "God, what do you need me to know?" that He showed me my path to healing. This is a lesson I learned, and I now pray daily for wisdom and discernment.

These corrupt companies have a far reach and deep pockets, and changes need to be made NOW. RFKJ is ready to take on the fight, but what's scary is his confirmation is in the hands of many senators who receive A LOT of kickback from these companies, and I'm talking hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars. I am praying with every ounce of my being that God opens the hearts of enough senators for RFKJ to get confirmed.

I'm not going to get into the vaccine debate, as I'm new to the questioning party on that topic. Both my kids are fully vaccinated through their 4-year shots except for flu and COVID. But I will say that I'm going to do research and make an educated decision based on what I feel is best for my boys when their next round is due in the coming years.

Are there situations/conditions in which medication is necessary? Absolutely! I am NOT at all saying that no one should ever use medication. If you take anything from this post, I just beg you to ask questions, do your own research, seek out 2nd and 3rd opinions (I got to at least 5, as I'll tell about in future posts), and don't take anything at face value. And PLEASE don't let mainstream legacy media be your only source of information (there's a good chance Big Pharma owns them, too). Follow independent thinkers like Joe Rogan and Shawn Ryan, functional medicine doctors like Dr. Josh Axe and Dr. Will Cole, and whole food activists like Vani Hari (The Food Babe), Zen Honeycutt (Moms Across America), and Alex Clark (Culture Apothecary podcast). And PRAY. Pray for wisdom and discernment. Pray for our nation, for our leaders, and for God's will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. Pray like your life and the lives of your children and the people you love depend on it. Because that's truly what's at stake.
